Those two little months..July and August

As I sit here starting to receive the trickling of emails from school, I can't help but think "where did summer go?" Every year I have the countdown going..starting from 180 which seems like we may never get to 0, yet every year somehow we make it. This summer I had my fair share of jobs, proving to the world of office desk employees that 2 months "off" may not be as glamorous as one may think.
House sitting was a success; none of the plants had died and no fires to report.  Dog sitting only one small mishap where I thought I had lost the dog, no biggie. I have my fair share of animal stories, but thats another blog :) Babysitting for 7 days straight made me realize I enjoy my kids at school, have them for a few hours and send them home! Lastly, working at the gym.. always an adventure taking 20 small children through a gym asking them not to "touch the equipment" as they are playing with the machines I may never understand how to use.

I had very glamourous plans of sitting on the deck, catching some sun and going out enjoying the city life at night. Tonight, I find myself house-sitting in suburbia, drinking coffee, watching another marathon of "Say Yes to the Dress" and constantly on my i-phone app-hopping between Pinterest, Twitter, and Etsy as if I may miss something extremely important. Actually it's somewhat enjoyable.

Lesson 1:
As for this summer, I learned a valuable, and ever so diffficult lesson about budgeting. I hope my future includes watering one less plant, and treating myself to one more beverage. I pose the question to all young teachers out there: How do you plan on budgeting for next summer?
